Case Studies
Case Study – Molly age 8
Molly is going through the process of having an autism diagnosis. She has difficulties with social anxiety and sensory processing. At the first session Molly did not enter the hall and stayed in the reception area the whole time with her Mum. The following week Molly came into the hall and sat on the stage whilst her Mum engaged in some of the activities. The following week, Molly engaged in all activities with her Mum in the class too. In following weeks Molly enjoyed the classes and stayed on her own without her Mum present. There were a few days where she wanted her Mum to stay with her as she didn’t settle well and we happily accommodated that for her.
This is Molly’s Mum’s feedback.
“I really wanted my daughter to attend the sessions with Sarah to help her be better equipped to handle her emotions. Her first session was pretty tough (a slight understatement!) but something obviously clicked as the following week she was desperate to go back. Sarah was great in allowing my daughter to watch and be involved as she wanted and the sessions are completely pressure free, which I think is a great comfort to my daughter. Sarah is really calming which I helps greatly and really understands that not all children are the same.. That to me is really important!”.
Case Study – James age 11
James is in year 6 and he has played the guitar for several years. He has refused to play in shows as his anxiety makes him feel sick and uncomfortable. He had an exam that he was feeling very anxious about. After the first six-week course with Sarah, James not only passed his guitar exam with confidence, but he sat in front of the whole school and their parents and played his guitar whilst the other children were singing. As he was sitting there before he started playing, his Mum saw him do the finger techniques he had learned in his sessions.
A message from James Mum
“I would highly recommend these sessions to anyone with an anxious child or to anyone who just wants them to feel calm and happier. They have made an amazing impact on my son and I’m very grateful”.

Feedback
This is what some children said during the sessions .. “I hold my hand on my heart and imagine a rainbow colour going in and out of my body when I breathe. It’s usually blue, and sometimes it has sparkles. It makes me feel calm and relaxed and I fall asleep much easier than other nights.” – Emily 9yrs old.
“I like to do the body scan when I lay in bed. I used to do it before I started the Calm Kids classes but now it is easier for me to do as I can see colours and feel different sensations in my body and I know I can let it be there without worrying and I can move to the next part and be calm.” – Luke 9yrs old.

What the parents are saying
“Thank you for sending me the photos of what they get up to, it’s lovely to see how comfortable he is during the sessions now. He says the story at the end is one of his favourite parts and he looks forward to returning every week”.
